A reminder that from next month - APRIL 2021 the statutory minimum rates are changing... Don't get caught out...
National Minimum Wage
From 1 April 2021, the following minimum rates of pay will apply:
The National Living Wage, will be extended to 23 and 24 year olds for the first time:
ages 23+ - £8.91 (up 2.2%)
21 to 22-year-olds - £8.36 (up 2%)
18 to 20-year-olds - £6.56 (up 1.7%)
Under-18s - £4.62 (up 1.5%)
For apprentices - £4.30 (up 3.6%)
Compensation for unfair dismissal
Unfair dismissal claims are also increases.
The basic award is calculated in the same way as statutory redundancy pay and will therefore increase as described under weekly pay below.
The cap on the compensatory award for unfair dismissal claims will increase as of 6 April 2021 to £89,493.
Weekly pay
Some statuary entitlements such as redundancy pay are calculated on employee’s weekly pay. This weekly pay is capped for statuary calculations.
From 6 April 2021, the prescribed cap on weekly pay will increase to £544.
Statutory sick pay
Statutory sick pay from 4 April 2021 will increase to £96.35 per week.
Statutory family-related leave
Also from the 4 April 2021 statutory maternity pay, adoption pay, paternity pay and shared parental pay will increase to £151.97 per week. The Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay (SPBP) which came into force from April 2020 as part of Jack's Law will also be paid at £151.97 per week.
